Lauffenburger scores 47 in victory over Lyons

Luke Lauffenburger scored a career-high 47 points to lead Marion to a 86-79 win over Lyons on January 9.

Lauffenburger, a 6-foot-6-inch senior, scored 14 points in the third quarter and 12 in the first and fourth. The Marion team is 10-0 overall, 8-0 league.

Lauffenburger, who averages about 23 points a game, was 18-for-34 from the field and 7-of-10 from the free throw line. He had scored 31 points in one game. Marion was leading 45-43 when Lauffenburger made three consecutive 3-pointers.

In the game, Brian Roegiers had 21 points, Steve Schutt had nine points, Alan Sargent added four.

Luke is also a member of the Rochester District Golf Association and competes in tournaments in the summer. He has golf privileges at Ontario Country Club, is a "team of one" for Marion Central, playing with the high school golf team from Wayne Central.
