Clyde-Savannah DFS raises funds Clyde-Savannah Dollars for Scholars is a group of volunteers who believe in the rich potential of young people. The organization is affiliated with the Citizens' Scholarship Foundation of America, a national scholarship program founded in 1958 which advises over 400 local affiliates. Funds for scholarships are raised through special events sponsored by the local group. Over $43,000 has been distributed in scholarships since the Clyde-Savannah program had its start in 1989. Dollars for Scholars also administers several other scholarships for individuals and business donors. Students complete one application to be considered for many awards. Recipients are determined by the local awards committee. Applications are scored anonymously and the awards are made on the basis of merit. Events planned for fundraising include a Spaghetti Supper on February 26, the annual Phone-A-Thon on March 30 and 31, and a Chicken Barbecue on May 3. Response from the community has been excellent in the past and is much appreciated by the students who benefit from the scholarships generated through these activities.
