Public safe boating

Red Jacket Power Squadron is holding their Spring Public Safe Boating Course.

The classes will be held 7 p.m. Thursdays, Feb. 5, 12, 19 and 26 in cooperation with the Ontario County Sheriff. The Geneva Adult (15 and up) Class will be in Geneva High. The Canandaguia Adult Class will be in the Ontario County Safety Training Bldg.

The Canandaigua Youth Class will be simultaneously taught at the site by the Ontario County Sheriff. The cost is $15 per Boat Smart workbook. Pre-registration is encouraged (716) 394-8012, 315-781-1226.

The Boat Smart Course introduces sailors to skills that may lower insurance and certifies a basic knowledge. Completion of this is the gateway into membership of the greatest private boating organization in the world.

The Youth Course is required in NYS to operate a powerboat or PWC between the ages of 10 and 18.
