Rose Groundhog Day celebration With winter rounding the corner into spring, revelers will celebrate Groundhog Day with a play, contra dance and party on Saturday, January 31. The festivities take place at the Rose Union Community Building, off Route 414 in Rose. The celebration begins at 7 p.m. with the musical play Infernal Internal, written by local environmentalist Roland Micklem. The dance follows with music by Glen Rose on fiddle, accordion and guitar. David Smuckler will call and teach all the dances. Contra dance is similar to square dance, with familiar movements such as "do-si-do" and "swing your partner." Beginners, singles and dancers of all ages are welcome. Admission for the evening is $5 for adults, $1 for youth 18 years old and younger. For more information, call (315) 587-9727.
