The Martin Luther King Day Celebration was held Monday at United Third Methodist Church
in Sodus. Pictured are men and women walking from the Sodus High School to the church.
The Celebration sponsors were WARE, Martin Luther King Commission, and Wayne County
Ministerial Alliance.
Kalonda Greene sang the Black National Anthem, and the Martin Luther King Choir sang other songs of inspiration. Connie Range of Newark presented awards to three students who wrote essays, using the theme "The Groove That's in the Heart." The girls are Janet Popolito of Sodus, LaTanya Parker of Newark, and Rakia Greene of Lyons. Range worked with children in grades 3 to 6 to do a presentation called "The
Dream Is..."
