Congratulations to the students who will advance to the next round of the Spelling Bee on February 27: Shari McKay, Allison Hosier, Christine Brown, Adam Loucks, Ted Sterchi, Dan Adriaansen, Karissa DePoint and Nick Weis.

James Paul Frankel is on the recent Dean's List at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy. He is a senior majoring in electrical engineering. RPI is the nation's oldest degree-granting technological university.

The Young People at the United Church will be serving a pancake breakfast on Sunday morning, January 25 from 8:45 to 9:45 a.m. The menu will consist of pancakes, sausage and beverage. Ages two and under eat for free, 3 to 11 pay $2.50, and 12 years thru adult are $3.50.

Jacob DePoint was a recent patient at the Clifton Springs Hospital.

Kay Oosterling was the guest organist at the United Church on January 18.

Dry, seasoned firewood is badly needed by people in the North Country. If anyone is able to deliver a truckload please call Clint McCoy at 315-265-1023. Volunteers are still needed.

The Afternoon Circle at the United Church met on Tuesday. Donations were made to the Red Stocking Fund, and the program was presented by Vivian Voorhees.

A Fabulous Chili Dinner, sponsored the Missions Committee at the United Church, will be held on Saturday, February 7. Cost of the tickets are $5 for adults and $3 for children. The menu includes Chili, tossed salad, applesauce, rolls, beverage and dessert. Servings are from 5:30-6 p.m. with a short Missions program presented at 6:30 p.m.

THINK ICE - the Millers Mills Grange will be presenting their Ice Harvest on Sunday, February 1. They will be using antique ice-cutting tools, starting at 11 a.m. until the Ice House is filled. Free horse-drawn sleigh rides. Grange and church food. Free admission and parking. OLD FASHIONED FUN. For more information call 315-822-5281.

The Junior Choir, at the Second Reformed Church, presented the Ministry of Music with This Little Light of Mine.

Happy 90th Birthday Wishes to Elizabeth Adriaansen, who resides at the Wayne County Nursing Home, Lyons NY 14489.

There will be a Family Night Roller Skating Party, sponsored by the Marion PTA on January 23, at the Marion Elementary School. 7-8:30 p.m.

Earth Shuttle Candy Sale Begins - January 27.

JANUARY 25, 1951: Members of the Lucky 4-H Club have finished making aprons as their first sewing project under the leadership of Mrs. Henry Whitcomb and Mrs. George Crayton.

I received a card from another Cancer Agency. This is not the Wayne County Unit of the American Cancer Society that is always ready with patient services for those who live locally.

The Marion Fire Department is holding a Chicken Bar-B-Q on Super Bowl Sunday, January 25. Serving begin at 1 p.m. Halves only; pick-up available.

Louise Allen wishes to thank all of her friends at the United Church of Marion as well as others from Marion that sent her greetings during the holiday season. She enjoys reading all her cards and letters and would like to wish a Happy New Year to all of her Marion friends.
