Marion student named Good Citizen

Tara SchinsingTara Schinsing, a senior at Marion Central, is the recipient of the Colonel William Prescott Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution Good Citizenship Award. She is one of 11 students to receive this award in Wayne County.

According to the program's criteria, students selected as DAR Good Citizen must display the qualities of dependability, service, leadership and patriotism to an outstanding degree. To be eligible for local, district, state and national good citizen prizes and scholarships, the candidate must submit a resume and complete up to a 500 word essay for DAR review.

She has combined her strong commitment to academics and school activities. Schinsing holds the office of class president along with being a representative of Student Council three out of her four years in high school. She is involved in school musicals, marching band, tennis, softball and was the representative for Girls State. Tara is also in an organization called Project Alert, which consists of student athletes who are against the use of drugs.

The daughter of David and Sheri Schinsing, she has plans of attending college and studying theater.
