Peppermint Days celebrates 10 years This year, Lyons Peppermint Days will be celebrating their 10-year anniversary, along with Wayne County's 175th birthday. The festival will be bigger than ever, and kicks off July 16 with the crowning of the Peppermint Princess in the Village Park, followed by a concert by "For Dancers Only." Friday is children's night. The kiddie parade will be at 6 p.m., sponsored by Lyons Elk Lodge. Children's booths in the park, children's songwriter and singer Fred Gee will be performing and the Lyons Elementary Teacher's Recital. July 18 will be filled with loads of food, crafters, and entertainment. At 8 a.m., the fun will start with a pancake breakfast by the Lyons Rotary. Some of the entertainment for Saturday will be: Minni Whinni Petting Zoo, Eno the clown, Wildlife Educators with many rare and instinct animals to see, dancers from Newark Performing Arts, Finger Lakes Chorus, Los Finstero's jug band, Kuntry Kuzzins square dancers, Lyons cheerleaders, Lyons Community Band and much more. The Gigantic Firework Display at 9:30 p.m. A new event will be added Sunday... Family Picnic Day, so bring your chairs and lunch or enjoy all the food vendors and listen to great music by the Dundee Symphonic Steel Drummers, the Dixie Steamers Band and the Lyons Rotary Band. The Interfaith Church Council will also be doing children's games. All are invited to join in on this special Anniversary Festival. Entertainment will be sponsored by the Lyons National Bank.
