The Newark Raptors have announced tha seven members of the team will play in next week's All-Star game in Hornell. The Raptors belong to the Northeastern Collegiate Baseball League. Representing the Raptors are pitchers Saxon Berry (1-0, 7 saves, 1.86 ERA); Doug Gibson (3-1, 2.90 ERA); and Derek Pines (4-0, 1.49 ERA, 35 strike-outs). Position players making the trip are: shortstop Donny Hood (.397 batting average, 6 doubles, 9 RBI); second-baseman Ray Goirigolzarri (.315 BA, 14 Runs, 3 triples); third-baseman Darin Kinsolving (286 BA, 8 doubles, 16 RBI); and catcher Damian Stambersky (.295 BA, 12 Runs, .436 on base percent). The All-Star rosters are selected by the eight general managers. Each team will send six players to represent their team. The Raptors were allowed to send seven players, because they currently lead the West Division. The All-Star game will be played on Monday, July 6 at 7 p.m. at Maple City Park in Hornell. The game will be broadcast live on Empire Sports Network (channel 52 in Newark).
