Raptors lose exhibition game

Athletes in Action rode the seven-hit pitching of Rob Hamann and Phil McCarren to a 5-3 exhibition win over Newark yesterday. Hamann walked three and struck out six Raptors as Athletes in Action gained a split of the two exhibition games this week.

Shane Naterman laced a two-run triple in the eighth inning to open an insurmountable lead. Billy Dunn and Eron Bennett had two hits apiece for the Raptors (19-5) who return to NCBL action on Tuesday in Cortland.

The next game at Colburn Park is on Friday, July 10 when the Geneva Knights come to town to play a doubleheader. The first game starts at 4 p.m. and is the completion of the suspended game from June 16. The regularly scheduled game begins at 7 p.m.
