Newark bridge
closed for
four months

The Newark Clinton Street bridge over the Erie Canal was closed June 29, to undergo reconstruction. Engineers hope to reopen the bridge in November. The project includes some work on Van Buren Street and the approach to the bridge.

Traffic has been rerouted to Bloom Road, off the Old Lyons Road. The State DOT will pay to rehab Bloom Road after a summer of heavy traffic.

Work on the closed East Ave. bridge will begin some time this summer.
