Computer Camp

By Melissa White

The weeks of July 6-10 and July 13-17, there is a Summer Computer Camp at the Computer Lab at the Sodus Primary School.

The classes are for one week each. (Students and parents were given the opportunity to choose which session would be convenient for them.) The camp is being sponsored by the Sodus Community Schools Program and the Newark Central School District/Finger Lakes Tech Prep Goals 2000 Consortium.

The sessions begin each day at 9 a.m. and end at noon. The instructors are Mary Heidenreich and Karen Rawden. On Friday, the last day of the camp, the students have the opportunity to invite guests in to see their "HyperStudio" creations. (I'll keep you posted on some of the stories the students have written.)

Both the Intermediate School and Primary School have computer labs. Programs such as the HyperStudio Summer Computer Camp are a great opportunity for the students to learn.

If you are like me on the computer - totally dependent on my kids' abilities and knowledge - the more they learn the more they can teach me. I'd be lost without my computer specialist. (I do get the feeling that sometimes he gets a little frustrated when I've bothered him four times while he's watching his favorite show.)

"Michael, could you...?"
