kennelDun Travlin
Ranch & Kennel

By Melissa White

While we were away for a few days for a mini-vacation, our Westie, Caesar, went on a mini-vacation of his own. Caesar stayed at the Dun Travlin Ranch & Kennel in Williamson. We packed up his favorite food, box, bowls and, of course, his favorite toys and off he went.

Caesar was so excited that while I was inside talking to the owner, Caesar was sitting in the car driver's seat blowing the horn. We filled out and signed the paperwork. Caesar then pulled us to door one, where I'm sure he met old and new friends. In fact, he was so excited to be there that he never looked back to say good-bye to us. He was too busy checking out the accomodations.

The Dun Travlin Ranch boards dogs, cat and other pets - in fact, we saw a little guinea pig enjoying himself in the office. The kennel is owned by Harry Halldow and Nancy Igler, both nice people who are both helpful and cooperative.

If you are going to board your dog, be sure to plan ahead for an appointment to the Veterinarian for his/her kennel cough shot. If the shot has just been given, remember to tell the kennel owners. (The shot takes a few days to work and in many cases the animal appears to have kennel cough even though he does not have it.)

The owners of the kennel are good about taking a sick animal to the vet for you while you are out of town. The kennel has a large and clean area. Cedar covers the floors.

pondviewIf you have any questions, or would like to see the kennel your animal might be staying at, I'm certain Harry or Nancy would be happy to show you around. The kennel is located on Shepherd Road in Williamson. If you have any questions you can call 589-2525. The hours are Monday-Friday 8-10 a.m. and 4-8 p.m.; Saturday 12:30-6 p.m. and they are closed Sundays.

Caesar can't wait to go again. Maybe he'll meet your dog and they'll become the best of vacationing friends. Animals don't always get to go on vacation with you, but it is comforting to know your best friend is happy, healthy and well taken care of while you're away.
