Visit Pine Hill Orchards in Lyons

By Melissa White

pine2.jpg (15228 bytes)I had gone past Pine Hill Orchards many times on my way through Lyons but had never stopped to investigate. Recently, we were there because of the Petting Zoo, so decided to see explore.

Pine Hill Orchards, on Rt. l4 just north of the village of Lyons, has all kinds of baked goods from cookies to pies. We picked up a dozen doughnuts and watched as people came in to pick up raspberry pie with whip cream to take outside and eat. There are picnic tables all set up so you can eat outside and enjoy the weather.

You can do a lot of things in just one trip. You can pick up your herbs or hanging plants, then relax with the kids and have ice cream or a sundae.

On Saturday (July 25), there will be a Summer Fest celebration beginning at 1 p.m. There will be live entertainment, a Kids Fun Tent and a chicken barbecue at 4 p.m. Sounds like they'll be busy (and it also sounds like a lot of fun)! Travel just 3 miles north of Lyons, or 7 miles south of Route 104. Maybe we'll see you there.
