The United Church School recognition picnic at Forman Park was brought to an abrupt conclusion last Sunday morning, by a terrific gust of wind (mini-tornado?). The wind raised the pavilion roof and brought down wooden beams from the ceiling. Two people were taken to the hospital, where x-rays showed they had no broken bones. With so many children and adults in the pavilion, it was something of a miracle that no one was seriously injured. Because the award and presentation ceremonies had to be cancelled, they will be conducted this Sunday morning (June 7) during the 10 a.m. service at The United Church.
