Mary Mc Ginnis is recuperating at her home at Drumlin Estates, following an accident.

The Rev. Anne L. Guild-Donovan was the Guest Speaker at the First Reformed Church on June 7.

On Friday, May 15, Barb and Gary Wilson of Union Street, with children Josh and Matthew, (Melissa had to attend a sectional track meet) traveled to Troy, NY to attend the graduation of their son, Jim. A 1991 Marion grad, Jim earned a BS in Electrical Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, graduating Magna Cum Laude, with High Honors. The family enjoyed lunch together after the ceremony, which marked the 192nd year of commencement exercises for RPI.

On Sunday, June 7, I had a chance meeting with Hazel McMullin at the Clifton Springs Hospital. She was her old "chipper" self and sends her greetings to folks in Marion.

Jlia Wise presented the Ministry of Music, at the Second Reformed Church, on Sunday, June 7.

Our #1 son is spending time at home awaiting the mending of his fractured leg.

Ron Dey is recuperating at home following cataract surgery.

Bill VerPlank is recovering from a broken hip.

Congratulations to David and Rebekah (Shay) Kunicki on the birth of a son, Joshua David on May 27. He weighed 8 lbs. and 4 oz. and was welcomed home by big sister, Rachel, who is 4 years old. Happy grandparents are Jack and Marilyn Veit.

"JUMPIN IN JUNE" is the title for the next Open Gym Night at the Educational Building at the Second Reformed Church. Hours are from 7:30 til 10 p.m. and is open for all 7-12 Graders plus the present 6th Graders. All are welcome! Invite your friends.

June 11, 1953 - Barbara Darks has exceeded all typing records in the history of Marion Central School with a rate of 73 net words per minute and was presented a special pin at the awards assembly.

Boys Modified baseball defeated Williamson on the road, 8 to 6. Matt Norlier closed the game.

Congratulations to Liz Boerman, Makena Mason, Becky Mostert, and Rebecca Lewis. These runners won their division at the meet of champions with the second fastest time in school and Wayne County history. They represented Section 5 at the state meet in Kingston.

The tennis team reached the final four of team sectional competition, defeating Wayland-Cohocton yesterday by a score of 4-1. Winning in straight sets were singles players Justin Hutt and Jared White, and doubles players Scott VanHorn, Paul Phelps, Cory McQueen, and Dan Loucks.

In a tornado-shortened match, the tennis team defeated Holley by a score of 3-1. Sectional semifinalist winners were Justin Hutt, Jared White, Cory McQueen and Dan Loucks.

The tennis team played at Perry in section 5's class C team championship match and was beaten by a score of 5-0.

The team ends its season with a record of 9 wins and 3 losses, and includes Wayne County's division II title. Coach Thomas is pleased with the won-lost record, but is most proud to congratulate his players on maintaining winning attitudes and high ideals of sportsmanship through the season.

The boys varsity track team gave a great team and individual performance on Saturday at the Class CC Section 5 meet at Wayland. The team finished 3rd and had 3 individual sectional champions. Brian Roegiers is a double champion. He won the high jump with a leap of 6'4", and the triple jump at 40' 3/4". Andy Ocque won the 110m high hurdles in 15.7 seconds.
