Raptors continue winning ways

Last night, the Newark Raptors continued their fast start to the 1998 NCBL season with a 10-6 victory over the Hornell Dodgers at Colburn Park. Doug Gibson scattered three hits over seven innings to get his second win of the year.

Brad FendleyBrady Ballard was three-for-four with two doubles, and scored four runs for Newark (5-1). Damian Stambersky had two hits and Darin Kinsolving smacked a three-run double in a six-run sixth that gave Newark a 9-2 lead.

For Hornell, Greg Bryant was the offensive star with a single and a double and two runs batted in. Newark plays again tonight, as the Wellsville Nitros come to town for a 7 p.m. game.

At Tuesday night's Hornell game, Brad Fendley (pictured) hit his first home run of the year. The Raptors took the game 3-1. Jim Pomeroy fired a complete game, eleven strike-out, four hitter.
