Raptors pound Nitros The Newark Raptors rapped out seventeen hits to a 15-2 victory over Wellsville Thursday night. The newest Raptor, Donnie Hood, smacked a three-run double in the fourth inning, and added an RBI single in the fifth, as Newark moved to 6-1 on the season. Darin Kinsolving had three hits, including a two-run double, and Ray Goirigolzarri hit a bases-clearing triple in a five-run fifth that gave Newark a 13-1 lead. The support was more than enough for Derek Pines (2-0), who surrendered six hits and an earned run in seven innings. The left-hander struck out ten Nitros. Troy Stortz had two hits for Wellsville who fell to 3-3 on the season. The Raptors are home again next Tuesday when the Geneva Knights come to town for a 7 p.m. start.
