Behind the pitching of Corey Byrd, Kale Curtis, Jason Ross (pictured) and Saxon Berry, the Newark Raptors moved to 10-2 with a 3-2 victory over Wellsville last night. With a crowd of 472 (the second largest of the season), the four pitchers scattered six hits while striking out 12 (5-5) Nitros. All of Newark's runs came in the bottom of the first inning - Ray Goirigolzarri singled and Donnie Hood walked. After a wild pitch and a passed ball, Chad Moon reached on an error and Goirigolzarri scored. Hood scored the second run on a double steal and Moon made the third when Darin Stambersky got into a run-down between first and second. Kris Caster gave up no earned runs on four hits as he fell to 0-1 on the year. The Raptors play at home again on Tuesday, June 23 against the Hornell Dodgers. Game time is at 7 p.m. at Colburn Park.
