Sodus Primary kids go 'buggy'
By Melissa White

On June 4, the Sodus Primary School second grade classes of Mrs. Frauel and Mrs. Intini put on a musical called "Goin' Buggy."

Goin' Buggy at Sodus PrimaryThe play, enjoyed by students and adults alike, contained many types of bugs. There were caterpillars that changed before the audience's eyes into beautiful butterflies. There were fireflies (who held flashlights) and sang "Let Your Lovelight Shine."

The Ladybugs sang a cute song about strolling along and that's no way to treat a Ladybug. Miss Muffet and the spiders did the Miss Muffet story and the Bumblebees sang a song "There's Nothing So Sweet as a Honeybee." When asked for the recipe for making honey, the reply was "None of your Beeswax." The Beetles sang a song about beetles and the treatment of them.

At night, when all the people go to bed, the bugs come to the Bug Wug Ball and dance the Bug Wug Hop. The Bugs were tired of being treated badly by humans so they made up signs and went to Washington. They carried signs that said things like, Bugs Have Feelings....Bugs are Number One....Take Action, Bug Equality.

Together, the Bugs went to Congress to state their case of Bug Abuse. They wanted the right to vote, Cricket to be to be a big sport, a new anthem and a Buggy Holiday. Of course, with that many bugs, they won the Pursuit of Bugginess for all.

The next time any of the audience members go to reach for the flyswatter or the bug spray, maybe they'll think about Bug Equality. For a second, anyway.
