Visit Ireland on March 17

On March 17, celebrate St. Patrick's Day in Newark: Come to "The Castles and Gardens of Ireland," the fourth in a series of travelogues at the Public Library.

Ruth and Bob Pearles of Macedon will be the tour guides for this trip to Ireland. They are, perhaps, better known in the area for their love for and expertise at growing roses.

Among the castles the Pearles will show are Blarney Castle, Bunratty Castle, and the 14th century Kilkea Castle (where they spent a night). The gardens will include St. Anne's gardens in Dublin and the gardens at the Malahide estate, at Muckross, and Kilkea Castle. The evening's "armchair trip" will be topped off with a stop at the Cliffs of Moher on Ireland's western coast.

This program, which starts at 7 p.m., is free and open to the community, Pre-registration at 331-4370 is requested. The library is located at 121 High Street.
