Newark Florists sold

newark florist truckAtlantic Greenhouses Inc. of Pipersville, Pa. has purchased Newark Florists Inc. effective March 10. Newark Florists (pictured), previously owned by Gerry deWit is located on East Maple Avenue.

Included in the sale is Baker Greenhouses, Inc. of Utica, New York, also owned by deWit.

The combined operation will have greenhouse production space of over 33 acres, raising and selling wholesale bedding plants, foliage and perennial flowers. The company's predominant service orientation is in mass merchants, home improvement chains and supermarkets, as well as garden centers and independent retailers.

Former owner Gerry deWit remains in Newark as Vice President of Operations. The Newark operation employs approximately 80 people.
