Dear Dan - We finally got some snow that I have been waiting for! The Second Reformed Church is holding a March Madness for grades 7-12 tomorrow evening, March 21 from 7:30 p.m. till 10:30 p.m. There will be food, music, ping pong, volleyball, soccer, 3 on 3 basketball and officially sanctioned loitering. Marcy Punnett will share the story of the Christian Church in Thailand, and Stuart Buisch will present songs for Lent and Easter at Park Presbyterian Church in Newark on Sunday, March 22 at 3 p.m. A reception will follow. A freewill offering will be received to benefit the Marcy Punnett Scholarship Fund. A ham dinner will be held at the First Reformed Church on March 23 from 5 to 7 p.m. Homemade pies will be featured for dessert. Tickets are $6 for adults, $5 for Seniors, $3 for children ages 5-12. Marion Boy Scout Troop 137 is sponsoring a Craft and Sports Card Show at the Marion High School on Saturday, March 28 from 10 to 3 p.m. Proceeds from the show will be used purchase camping equipment. A pancake breakfast sponsored by the Order of the Eastern Star will be held on Sunday, March 29 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Masonic Temple. Tickets are $3.50 for adults and $1.50 for children under 12. March 26, 1953: Marion students who will participate in the county spelling contest at Williamson on Monday are Jerene VanHanegem, David Dean, Beatrice Higbee, and Robert Stanton. The Foster Grandparent program of Wayne County Action is accepting applications for Foster Grandparent volunteers. They provide individual attention and unhurried help to children who have special needs, and work in a variety of childcare settings such as schools, Roosevelt Center, Day Care Centers, etc., in return for two hours of service a week. Foster Grandparents receive a tax-free stipend of $51 a week, travel reimbursement and other benefits. For more information call 946-0037.
