Linda Shaffer, Wayne County Clerk and chairman of the Wayne County United Way/Red Cross Campaign announced a goal of $835,000 for this year's campaign. The announcement was made on March 18 to supporters at the United Way of Wayne County Day of Caring breakfast rally at Alex Eligh Community Center in Newark.
"With the continued support from area companies and individuals, I am certain
we will reach our goal," said Shaffer. "By supporting United Way, Wayne County
residents will make many good things happen for our neighbors in need." This years
campaign theme is Make Good Things Happen. "Service providers rely heavily on volunteers," said Nadine Brill, co-chair
for the Day of Caring and executive director of the American Red Cross-Wayne County
Chapter (United Way's fundraising partner). "The Day of Caring is an excellent way to
expose people to volunteer opportunities that are available." Brill's co-chair is
Pamela Heald of WCTA Federal Credit Union. Copyright © 1998 |
