Rotary International NightInternational Night
at NHS

Events at Saturday's International Night included a bazaar, food courts from Croatia, Germany, Greece, Italy, the Netherlands, Puerto Rico, folk dances from Croatia, Bavaria and the Dominican Republic, and a performance by "Puerto Ricans on the Loose."


croatian dancersThe Puerto Rican dancers are Gricelidad and Lourdes Rojas, Shaila Christian, Jahaira and Milagros Velazquez, and Audrey Buckland. The school vocal jazz choir sang, and music was provided by Nate Thomas, Brady Lee and Sean Bailey.

People sang German Songs, toured the Netherlands, watched Thai dancing, tasted crepes, spoke foreign languages, made German pretzels and schnitzel, and Honduran tajadas fritas, travelled to Ireland, the Netherlands, China, Spain, Finland, Sweden.


celebrating international nightIn colonial America, people learned to spin flax into linen; Glenn Call played a German alphorn; people made Honduran pinatas and Puerto Rican beaded flags; others listened to music in the Russian Tea Room.

Many from the community volunteered to take part in the annual event, including Dawson Raymo, Dan and Kathy Bement, Bonnie Decker and Dick Boerman (pictured).
