Marion's Warm Winter Project

The volunteers of the Warm Winter Project provided almost 600 items of warm clothing to homeless folks since October. Three homeless shelters and two battered women's shelters received items ranging from handspun, hand-knit mittens, hats and socks, to donated sweaters, coats and sleeping bags. Many women and men donated fleeces and yarns of every fiber and hue, spun wool, knitted cozy, warm wearables; others donated winter clothing.

They will be scheduling several spinning and knitting events this Spring and Summer in preparation for 1998 Fall deliveries. Raw fleece, and wool and acrylic yarns are available now for volunteers who would like to spin or knit on their own.

Stop by the Sheep and Wool Shop, 4849 Cory Corners Road, Marion, or call Louise at 926-5765 or Linda at 589-3711 for more information.
