Circus coming to Lyons, Newark The "best of the Big Top" comes to the Lyons High School gym on Friday, May 15, as the Lyons Middle School hosts Billy Martin's Cole All-Star Circus. Showtime is scheduled for 7 p.m. The circus will also appear at Newark High School on Saturday, May 16, with 3 and 7 p.m. performances, sponsored by the Newark Baseball Program. Animals, aerialists, acrobats, clowns, and the new Alien Encounter will be featured in the 90-minute presentation. The indoor circus is currently on a coast-to-coast 60th anniversary tour, with Wellsville being one of over 300 communities the show will visit this year. The Cole Circus was founded in Penn Yan in 1938 by James M. Cole. Cole toured the circus for 50 years before turning the operation over to ringmaster Billy Martin. Children 14 years and younger will be admitted free with an adult admission (limit two free kids per each adult). Adult tickets are $6 advance (available NOW at school offices) or $8.50 each at the door. Each group receives 50% of the advance ticket sales.
