Jill Starkenburg NHS track & field

The Lady Reds (now 4-1) track team posted a 90-31 win over the Panthers on May 11 at Geneva.

Jill Starkenburg (pictured) won the triple jump (31 ft. 10.25 in.) and won the pole vault at 9 feet. Jen Stevens won the 1500 meter run (5:40.0). LaTanya Parker won the 100 meter in :12.7, Amanda Leeuwen won the 800 meter in 2:33.3, Lois Jenkins won the 200 meter (:27.6), Laurie Bastian won the high jump (5 ft.), and April LAllen won the shot put (29 ft. 7 in.). Newark won the 4X400 relay with Katrina Maloy, Sarah Lewis, Breille Benge and Janel Rokitowski.

Pittsford Invitational

On May 9 Newark placed second at Pittsford. Parker won the shot put with a toss of 38 ft. six in. and the discus with a toss of 136 ft. six in.

Starkenburg won the pole vault event at nine feet. She is the NHS and Section 5 record holder in pole vault.

Newark second places:

Keya Collins, discus 104 ft. nine in., Bastian, high jump, 4 ft. 10 in. Third places went to McCusker in the 3000 meter run, the 4x1OO relay team of Jenkins, williams, Williams and Parker and the 4x8OO relay team of Leeuwen, Stevens, Erin Daly and McCusker.
