The Library Media Center at the Sodus Primary School has recently moved into its beautifully renovated space.

The new space includes an informal reading area with couches. There is more shelving and display area for books and other materials. Other features of the new library are computer areas, a room for storyhours, small group instruction and a teacher production center.

Becky Olson Many parent volunteers spent hours moving library materials from the temporary library into the new library. Those who helped with the move are: Dawn Turner, Debbie Furber, Diane DeWispelare, Donna DeenClingan, Amie Phillips, Beth Klemke, Sonja Gray, Denise Reginatto, and Intermediate Student Cortney Simmons.

The Library Staff is composed of Library Media Specialist Becky Olson (pictured), Library Assistant Helen Phillips and Green Thumb employee Anna Tunley. They have created a friendly, inviting atmosphere in which students can put to use their reading skills for enjoyment as well as researching materials.

Currently, the library is being automated and will be linked to the Internet. This process will be completed at the end of May and will open many doors to materials and information far beyond Sodus.

The students and staff are most appreciative of their beautiful new library and the comfort more space and special rooms give them. The first step to exploring the worlds books have to offer is walking through the doorway to the library itself. The new Sodus Primary library is a friendly place where taking that first step is made fun and easy.
