| Geography Week was held at East Palmyra Christian School the
week of October 19-22 with culminating activities on October 22. Each classroom chose a
different country or continent to study and then shared their findings with the other
classrooms. Mrs. Admiraal and her kindergarten class had a fashion show of African
costumes and a beautiful display of artifacts from various African countries.
The first and second graders, along with Mrs. Rachow, had a display of Korean articles
and Korean food. Mrs. Kinnear's 3rd graders studied Australia and explained the various
regions there. Miss DeVries with her 7th-8th graders studied South America.
Mrs. Hutt's 5th and 6th graders' country was Holland or The Netherlands. She had an
advantage, as there are so many Dutch people in this area. With the help of Carolyn
Adriaansen, Walter Vander Beek from Palmyra, and Mrs. Alberts from Macedon, Mrs. Hutt's
class was all dressed in Dutch costumes and had a great time trying to speak Dutch as they
served Dutch meatball soup and three different kinds of cheeses with rye bread. Everyone
had fun trying to walk in wooden shoes. The students now have a better understanding of
these countries.
