Rose Committee gets 429 bushes

roseThe Rose Capital Committee of Newark has received 429 mature rose bushes from Jackson & Perkins Gratis Rose Program. The roses were requested from Jackson & Perkins to be used in the Showplace Community Rose Garden on the corner of Main and Miller streets, and throughout the Village of Newark.

Ten rose bushes were donated to Mike Colacino's new business, Colacino Auto Conditioning, on Colton Ave. Now that the habit and requirements of the rose bushes has been determined, the Rose Committee will be donating additional plants to Mike's business to fill in the planting.

This is the perfect time of year to move roses! Businesses and individuals can request rose bushes from the Rose Committee, or join the Committee, by contacting Emily Leone at 331-2993.
