Retired Teachers convene The 48th Annual Convention of the New York State Retired Teachers Association was recently held at the Nevele Country Club in Ellenville, NY. The Conference, attended by 405 members and hosted by the Association's Central Western Zone, featured the re-election of Richard Lagoe of Sherburne, NY to the Association's Presidency. Other candidates receiving approval from the delegates included Agnes Hudson of Gouverneur, Senior Vice-President; Violet Resciniti of Binghamton, Secretary; and Dr. Frank Mayer, of Albany, Treasurer. The 292 elected delegates also adopted resolutions supporting legislation related to pension reform, health care and anti-scam measures. Participants from the Wayne County Retired Teachers Association included Jane and Ron DeCracker, Barrie Fleegel, Kay Miller, Jay and Carol Ramsey, Dave Taber, Anne Velotte, Bob and Ruth Wadsworth. Wayne County businesses contributing to the outstanding door prizes were: The Apple Shed (Newark), Heluva Good Cheese (Sodus), Motts North America (Williamson), Candy Kitchen (Williamson), Reckitt and Colman, Inc. (Wolcott), Seneca Foods, Inc.(Marion), and Wegmans (Newark). The New York State Retired Teachers Association is an organization of almost 30,000 retired teachers and administrators with offices located at 50 Colvin Avenue in Albany, NY.
