Holiday Show & Sale

Good Santas know - for unique, affordable gifts this Christmas season, stuff your stockings at Wayne County Council for the Arts' Holiday Show & Sale.

Opening on Monday, November 30 and running until 3 p.m. (sharp!) on Christmas Eve, this annual fundraising event is where you are sure to find that special something for everyone on your gift-giving list this year. Whether your tastes run from beautiful, locally designed jewelry to handcrafted wooden children's toys to exquisitely executed paintings, drawings, and photographs, the Arts Council is the place to look.

Christmas ornaments, homemade candy, porcelain and Raku bowls and vessels, books, and CDs from local writers and performers, paper goods, intricately painted Ukrainian Easter eggs, and more, are all available at this year's sale and will make charming gifts.

Located at 2 Broad Street in Lyons, the Arts Council is pleased to present this seasonal exhibition/sales opportunity to area artists as well as to the public. Sales increased more than 100% last year over 1996's sale with fifty of the fifty-one artists selling something. Gallery hours are Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Admission is free.

An opening reception for the Holiday Show & Sale is planned for Friday, December 4 from 7-9 p.m. Opening concurrently with the holiday sale is Christmas in Wayne County, an exhibit of seasonal photographs shot last Christmas featuring the work of Wolf Tinz, Nigel Kent, Kevin Schoonover, Robert Henry, Walter Chase, and David Chapin. Admission to this reception is free and refreshments will be served.

Artists still wishing to participate in this year's exciting holiday show should contact the Arts Council at 946-5078 for details on how artwork should be priced.
