Resources for local genealogy Genealogists - have you tried to find information for your family tree on the internet but with little success? Volunteers from all over the country are continually typing lists and articles for the Wayne County NY GenWeb Site (http://www.rootsweb.com/~nywayne), part of the USGenWeb Project. Wayne County is one of over 1,800 US counties that now have their own family history page! This website has grown tremendously within the past year and has a great amount of genealogical information for almost all of the Wayne County townships. There is an abundance of information regarding cemetery listings, directories of townspeople from the 1800s, as well as other interesting historical information. If you are not on the Internet, the Office of the Wayne County Historian, 9 Pearl Street, P.O. Box 131, Lyons, NY, 14489, has a large collection of books relating to family trees, Civil War information, the Hoffman Essays, old wills, census records, family surname files, etc. The Historian Office staff will conduct research for you at an hourly rate, or assist you, at no charge, in doing your own ancestral detective work at their office. There is no research fee for residents of Wayne County. For more information you may contact the Office of the Wayne County Historian at 315-946-5470, Fax: 315-946-5978 or e-mail: wchist@redsuspenders.com Also check out the Wayne County Historian website at www.waynecountyny.org Copyright © 1998 |
