Keeping you posted about Sodus Don't forget that Monday the 12 th is Columbus Day so the students will have a long weekend. John Delyser has a new produce business on 104 called the Corner Market And they have pumpkins available. They opened October 3. On Wednesday, October 14 the Sodus Intermediate School will be having "Activity Afternoon." The event will have many activities for the students, including dancing in the intermediate gym, volleyball and basketball in the fieldhouse. For dinner there will be pizza and drinks in the High School foyer. The fun is from 2:30 to 5 p.m. and the cost of tickets will be $3. They will be on sale Tuesday, October 13. This event is just for the Intermediate School students. Students may bring extra money to purchase a second can of pop. Candy will be sold by the 5th grade for their trip to Cooperstown. Parents are encouraged to pick up their children after the event. If you have any questions, contact Terri Smith at the Intermediate School. Sell It Soon has moved to Ridge Road in Williamson. There are three new businesses now, where the Sodus Pharmacy used to be. I know one is a Travel Agency and another is Chips Computer store, I'll do a little more research and let you know when I know more. Boy Scouts are selling a large variety of popcorn. They also had their fall camporee at Alasa Farms last weekend. Halloween is coming and if you're looking for a scary place to spend some time Cub Scout Packs #111, 123 and 521 are having a gruesomely scary barn again this year. The barn will be open for all who dare enter Friday, and Saturday, October l6 and l7, if you miss that one you have a chance to go again on Friday and Saturday, October 23 and 24. Both weekends of fun scaring are from 6:30-9 p.m., so, if you dare, come see how really horrible Cub Scouts can look. The dreadful Haunted Barn is located at 5647 Buerman Road, in Sodus. Donations $2 at the door. My son and his troop worked on the barn for years and they can come up with some truly horrible things. The outfits are inventive and the adults are worse than the boys (well, sometimes). But that's what people do at Halloween, right? Classes are being offered: St. John's in Clyde will have a class on Tuesday, October 20 at 7 p.m. Making Moral Decisions. Presenter: Ann Wilkin. The cost of the classes will be $5: for registration information please call Ann Wilkin at 483-6111. On Thursday, October 22 the second grades of the Sodus Primary School will be taking a field trip to the Big Red Hayrides in Williamson. The cost will be $5 per person. Children will need to bring a bag lunch and a drink. Please have children dress appropriately for the weather. (Sounds like fun!) The Literacy Volunteers of Wayne County need your help. There are many people in Wayne County who can not read. With your help, they can learn to read, and you can feel the reward of helping someone who needs you. There will be a fund raiser Saturday, October 24 from 1-4 p.m. at the Heluva Good Cheese Country Store on Rt. 104. Tickets will be $8 or 2 for $l5. If you have questions or would like ticket information, contact Kirk Baker at 3l5-946-5333 or LuAnn Irwin at 3l5-483-6839. On the 28th there will be Make up pictures and from 2-3:30 p.m. in the Intermediate School, the students will having a rollerskating event. Parents must pick the children up at 3:30 when the event is over. The Church of the Epiphany has come up with a name for their treasure sale. The "New To You" sale will be held in the Parish Center on Friday and Saturday, November 13 & 14, from 9 a.m. - 2 p.m. Donations can be dropped off in the Parish Center Lobby starting November 1. Household items, sports equipment, toys, games, bric-a-brac, etc. are welcome. Please no clothes (clothes may be put on the Rectory porch for the free clothes closet). The proceeds from the sale support the youth programs. If you're doing some fall cleaning here's a good place to drop things off, and everything is much appreciated.
