Boys soccer results

The Newark Reds inched closer to a Finger Lakes West divisional title Tuesday. They played to a double-overtime 2-1 victory over the Bloomfield Bombers at home.

Chris FradinBloomfield made it 1-0 when they scored with just 16 minutes remaining in the second half. With 11 minutes remaining Derrick Van Halle scored off a Cory Marcano corner kick, heading the ball into the net for a 1-1 tie.

Game was still tied after the first 10-minute OT period.

With 4:27 left in the second overtime, Jon deWit kicked the ball unassisted for the winning goal. Newark improved to 10-3 overall and remained in first place.

Newark outshot Bloomfield 19-11. Craig VanHarken had 10 saves for the Reds.

The junior varsity boys improved to 7-3-1 with a 2-1 double overtime win over Bloomfield. Both clubs were tied at one apiece after the first half with Jake Sleight scoring a goal on a Zach Hussion assist. The Reds scored with three minutes left in the second overtime on a goal by Josh Prinzi, and an assist by Derrick Chappell.

"I thought Adam Nedvesky, Dan Hendershot played well for us," said Coach Mark DeYoung. Newark outshot Bloomfield 14-12 and Travis Rohlin had 10 saves.
