Local volunteer managers for Girl Scouts

The Seven Lakes Girl Scout Council has announced the appointment of four volunteer service unit managers.

Named to these positions are Amy Fernaays of Lyons, Cheryl Claeysen of Marion, Anne Boise of Sodus and LeeAnn Eisele of Williamson. A volunteer position, a service unit manager is responsible for the other adult volunteers in her area who administer the Girl Scout program to girls.

Femaays was a Daisy Girl Scout leader last year, serving a troop of girls in kindergarten. She has one daughter and two sons.

Claeysen has been a Girl Scout leader since 1984. She has also been the treasurer in Marion and a consultant for Girl Scout programs.

Boise, a medical secretary, is in her third year volunteering as a troop leader. She says she took on the service unit manager's position because she wanted to see the good things happening in Girl Scouting there continue. She reports that they have already registered 143 girls this fall. Boise said she also enjoys the adult trainings offered to Girl Scout volunteers. She encourages the other leaders to access these free classes.

Eisele also has fond memories of Girl Scouting, which brought her back into the fold as an adult. She has been a Girl Scout leader since 1996.

With the help of dedicated adults, girls in Girl Scouting learn values, self reliance, respect for others and a concern for the community. Girl Scouting is open to all girls ages 5 to 17. Registration for the 1998-99 troop year is happening now.

Seven Lakes Girl Scout Council serves over 12,000 girls in 13 counties. For over 37 years, the council has been dedicated to providing program activities to build leadership skills and character in girls, meeting the unique needs of girls from all backgrounds.
