Derrick Van HalleNewark still
on top in soccer

The Newark varsity boys soccer team (12-3) remained atop the Finger Lakes West Division with a win on Monday. The Reds won 3-0 over the Bulldogs at Honeoye.

Jon Dedrick scored off an assist by Alexis Sigg. Sigg scored in the second half unassisted, giving the Reds a 2-0 lead. Nate Thomas scored the third goal off an assist by Ben Yonda. Craig Van Harken had three saves, and Newark had 27 shots on goal. Newark had a 6-1 edge in corner kicks. Today is Senior Night with Newark hosting Midlakes at 4 p.m.

Newark posted a 3-0 win on October 16 at Romulus.

Derrick Van Halle (pictured) scored just two minutes into the game to make it 1-0. It was 2-0 when VanHalle scored with 15 minutes left in the first half. Newark's third goal came from junior Jonathan Dedrick. Dedrick also added an assist with Jeff Parkison also getting a assist.

Newark outshot Romulus 34-4. Newark goalie Craig Van Harken earned the shutout at goal for the Reds.
