Happenings
By Carolyn Adriaansen (926-4436) Most of us were lucky to escape the devastation created by the windstorm on early Labor Day morning, but we did get the usual water in the basement. Erin and Elyse Bushart presented the Ministry of Music on Sunday, September 6 at the morning worship service at the Second Reformed Church. Kate Buyck has returned to her home and is doing much better. SEPTEMBER 11, 1947 - Several new members of the Marion school faculty are teaching this year. In the first grade, Miss Mary J. Lester is a new teacher and Miss Gertrude L. Webb is teaching sixth grade. Louis E. JohnRy and Shirley Tack, along with Gerald and Mary DeRue, Donald and Dottie Leege and Eugene and Lorraine Weimer have returned from a tour of the western states and a weeks cruise in the Alaskan Inland Waterway. They had a wonderful time, enjoying the nice for weather and the gorgeous scenery. They took a helicopter ride, for some of them it was their first flight, and had a chance to walk on a glacier. In Ketchikan they took a sea plane ride whtch allowed them to see the area and gave them the thrill of landing between two mountains. "What the caterpillar thought was the end of life, the butterfly knew was just the beginning." Gordon and I entertained family members and friends with a Labor Day Brunch. The weather was perfect, the conversation lively and the food seemed to pass the test. Rod and Helen Adriaansen accompanied by Irene Klaeysen, traveled to Danville, PA, where they visited their friend, Wynona Jones. On the return home they visited the Adriaansen's son, Scott and Jennie and children and planned a stop at Northumberland, PA to say "Happy Birthday" to Irene's grandson, Justin Tome.
