Monday, the Newark varsity girls dropped a second straight overtime decision, this time to the Marcus Whitman Wildcats at home. Janel Rokitowski gave the Lady Reds a 1-0 lead at the end of the first half. Whitman came back into the game when Jessica Holloway scored with nine minutes remaining in regulation. The winning goal came in the second overtime period when junior striker Sam Meyer kicked in the winning goal. Whitman outshot the Reds 20-19. Nicole Milliman (pictured) had 16 saves. The coach said Rachel Prong and Jillian Benge played well in defeat. Grogan also praised Renee Williams and Lois Jenkins on their fine play. The Reds are now 0-3 on the season. The jayvee girls lost 2-0 to the Wildcats. Angie Perillo had eight saves. The Newark varsity girls soccer team dropped a 3-2 overtime decision to Wayne Central on September 10. Milliman had 18 saves.
