Ben Williams NHS varsity golf

The Newark golf team continued its undefeated wave with a 207-222 win over the Canandaigua Braves last Friday at the Newark Country Club.

Newark sophmore Josh DePorter led the Reds with a fine 37. He was followed by Ben Williams (pictured) with a 39, Brent Burgess, 43 and Ed Reid and Ben Converse with a 44. Newark senior Mike Zappia added a 45 with the Reds sixth score. The top five scores are used to score a match.

Shawn McWilliams shot a 40 to lead the Braves followed by Jim Johnson with a 42, Adam Schoor with a 44 and Ryan Schaffer with a 47. Brett Scales finished the Braves scoring with a 49.

Newark remained undefeated at 9-0 with a 207-217 win over the Palmyra-Macedon Red Raiders yesterday at Marvin's Country Club.

DePorter fired a 39 and Williams added a 40. Burgess and Reid followed with 41's and Converse chipped in with a 46.

Jim Wilson of Palmyra Macedon was medalist on the day with a 37. Ben LaPenski adding a 43 for Pal-Mac.
