Educational kits from Historical Society

The Wayne County Historical Society is making educational program kits available to schools, organizations and clubs.

Each kit contains artifacts and a guide, including an inventory, information about artifacts, a bibliography and teaching suggestions. Some kits also have accompanying slides and a script, which may be requested with a kit, or separately.

The loan price for each kit is $15 for a one-week loan. Schools should call the Museum to get the special school prices and loan terms.

Some of the available kit topics are:

Trains and Trolleys of Wayne County
The General Store
The Civil War and the Underground Railroad
Before the First Settlers
The Wreck of the St. Peter
Pioneer Everyday Life
The Old Schoolmaster
The Country Doctor
The Erie Canal (History)
The Erie Canal (Business and Industry).

For a complete list of the 20 kit topics, or for more information, call the Society at 946-4943, Tuesday-Friday from 10-noon or 12:30-3:45, or stop by the Museum at 21 Butternut Street, Lyons.
