Lillian Cherrier of Sunset Drive attended the birthday party of her daughter, Beverly DiSanto, and the second birthday of her great grandson, Jordan Marr. Gerald Ellsworth of Albany, spent the weekend with his mother, Eunice. Both of them enjoyed attending Canaltown Days in Palmyra. "Happy Birthday Wishes" to Margaret Curtis on September 23. "A good lawyer knows the law. A great lawyer knows the judge." Can you sew? Scouts, 4-H'ers, hobbyists, or other volunteers are needed to sew adult-sized bibs for developmentally disabled persons who need clothing protection when they eat. All materials supplied, and you can sew at home at your own pace. Call Pat Barry at 597-4496. Emogene Stear is making good progress at the Rochester General Rehab Center, 1425 Portland Ave., Unit 7800, Rochester, 14621. SEPTEMBER 25, 1941 - A chicken supper will be served at St. Gregory's church Wednesday, October 15, with these in charge: Mrs. Lester Nevil -dinner, Mrs. W.D. Bovet - tickets, Mrs. Jack Hall - entertainment and advertising, Cyril Bastleer - finance, and Mrs. Leo DuBois - dining room. 10 o'clock worship service at the United Church will be followed by Rally Day and a family picnic at Marion Town Park at 11:30 a.m. Please bring a dish to pass and your own table service. Hot dogs, beverages and dessert will be provided. Come! Reunite with church families for an afternoon of fellowship, good food, family games, and a teen scavenger hunt to benefit the Marion Food Pantry. September 28 - Earth Shuttle candy sale begins and 7th grade jewelry sale ends. September 29 - Dine-a-mate sale ends. September 30 - International Club fundraiser. Budd and Ruth Haskins have returned from a trip to Branson, Missouri. They met Budd's sister, Esther, there and together enjoyed many of the spectacular shows. They also journeyed around the area, taking lots of pictures. Gretchen Wolfanger, a recent grad of Hope College in Michigan, is spending some time with her parents. She spent the summer working for the Hope Summer Repertory Theater in Holland, Michigan. High School Sports The tennis team got off to a successful start with a hard fought 3-2 win at Sodus. Lesley Bush, Stephanie Means and Erin Metcalfe swept the singles matches to clinch the victory. In the League Tournament - Bush was the singles champion, and in doubles competition, Sarah Schreiber and Samantha Starks finished first. Behind doubles wins from Samantha Starks, Sarah Schreiber, Erin Metcalfe, and Jenny LaFlam, defeated Lyons, 4-1. Also victorious were singles players Stephanie Means and Jen Aylesworth. Bush, Means, Aylesworth, Starks and Schreiber were winners as Marion defeated Clyde-Savannah, 4-1. In a battle of tennis titans, Marion edged Wayne 3-2. Bush, at first singles, came from down 2-6 to win 10-7 in the final match. Also winning were third singles Aylesworth and first doubles teammates Starks and Sparks. Varsity Volleyball: Marion defeated Williamson 3-0 and Bishop Kearney 3-0. The boys varsity soccer team defeated Livonia 1-0 and Red Creek, 3-1 in OT. JVB soccer team tied Red Creek 2-2. The girls soccer team defeated Sodus 3-1. Amy Fisher scored two goals and Adrienne VanHorn scored one goal. Red Creek defeated Marion 2-1, with Amy Fisher scoring. The JV Girls won an exciting game, 3-2. Goals were made by Megan DePoint, Morgan Jackson and Tracy Wilson.
