Newark native to speak in Slovenia

Dr. Thomas J. Walters will address a scientific conference in Slovenia, sponsored by NATO.

Dr. Walters, along with two other scientists from the Directed Energy Division of the Air Force Research Laboratory at Brooks Air Force Base in San Antonio, will address the conference in October.

The topic is, "The Validation and Use of Computer Models for determining the Absorption of Electromagnetic Energy in Biological Systems."

The purpose of the conference is to develop a uniform global set of guidelines to address health and safety concerns relating to electromagnetic energy (cell phones, weather radar systems, MRI scanners, etc.).

Dr. Walters graduated from Newark High School in 1975 and is the son of John and Norma Walters of North Creek Road, Palmyra.

Slovenia was formerly part of the country of Yugoslavia.
