The Newark varsity girls posted a win (15-8, 15-0, 15-9) over the Blue Devils at Seneca Falls. Sarah Coolidge had five kills and three aces, while Crystal McIlwain had five assists. On Monday they struggled to defeat Pal-Mac 3-2. Newark was down 10-2 and took a 13-10 lead. The Red Raiders rallied to win the first set 16-14. Newark tied the match by winning 15-11 in the second. Red Raiders took the third set 16-14. Newark won the next sets 15-8 and 15-11. April Allen had 13 kills, Kadi Burgess (pictured) had 13 kills and five aces, Coolidge had seven kills, four blocks and four aces, Amy Hares had six aces, five kills, 19 assists. Pal-Mac is 5-2 and Newark is 6-0 overall, 4-0 league. The jayvee team dropped a 2-1 decision to the Red Raiders. Pal-Mac won 15-11 and 15-6, losing the third set 15-6. Lindsay Burgess had two kills, Ashley Scutella had four aces. Last Thursday the team won 3-0 over the Mynderse Academy Blue Devils, 15-12, 15-4, 15-13. Kristen Ottnod had five aces, Michelle Golding had five aces, Burgess had six kills. Last week, the JV (now 4-2) lost 2-1 to the Indians at Waterloo.
