Black Belt Academy wins trophies

Andrea Lang, Tyrone Hill, Jamie Burnham; (back) Kraig Wright and Jeff Burnham.The American Black Belt Academy went to Syracuse to compete in the Energizer Open tournament held on September 12. Hundreds of competitors showed up from all over the east coast and Canada.

Jeffrey Burnham, age 8, was the Grand Champion of the tournament, winning first place in intermediate forms, first in sparring, first in weapons, and first in open forms in the age 15-and-under grand champion division.

Jamie Burnham: 1st in novice forms, 3rd in sparring; Andrea Lang: 2nd in advanced forms, 3rd in weapons, finalist in sparring; Tyrone Hill, Jr.: 1st in novice sparring, 1st in weapons, 3rd in forms; Kraig Wright: 2nd in advanced forms, finalist in sparring

The A.B.B.A. travels to tournaments an average of two times a month. Anyone interested finding out more about classes is welcome to stop by the school at 515 North Main Street, Newark, in front of Seasonall Auto.
