Environmental teach-in in Wolcott

Lakeshore Environmental Action, an environmental advocacy group, will sponsor an environmental teach-in on Sunday, April 25 from 1-5 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Wolcott.

According to Roland Micklem, president of LEA, the object of the teach-in will be to provide an update on the status of the environment and promote awareness of a broad spectrum of critical environmental issues. The teach-in will be led by individuals with expertise in various environmental related fields, and will cover such topics as global climate change, organic farming, biodiversity loss, alternative energy, and sustainable economics.

Among the discussion leaders are Al Stamm, professor of meteorology at Oswego State; David Stern and Jim Taylor, organic farmers; Harry Schwarzlander, a retired Syracuse University professor and president of the New Environment Association; Susan Peterson, an environmental writer and editor of the Lake Ontario Log; Elizabeth Katz, environmental writer and editor of the Eco-Times, and Micklem, a naturalist and environmental activist.

For more details, contact Roland Micklem after 5 p.m. at (315) 365-3403.
