Legion recognizes local men

On July 15, at the American Legion's 81st New York State Convention in Binghamton, awards were presented to three area residents.

John P. Delgaudio was named New York State Law Enforcement Officer of the year. Delgaudio is a resident of Fairport and has been a State Trooper for 15 years. He is stationed in Williamson and works out of the Walworth satellite office. Delgaudio received this award for his dedicated service and for many years of working with the community above and beyond his call of duty.

Awarded to Richard K. Murphy was New York State Fire Fighter of the year. Murphy is a Marion resident with 30 years of volunteer service to the Marion Fire Department. Murphy received his award for his dedicated skills in fire fighting, training and presenting life-saving techniques around the Wayne County area.

Awarded to Mark Wyman was the New York State Outstanding District award. Wyman is a Marion resident with 27 years as a member of the American Legion Memorial Post 1430. He received his award for his dedicated service to the Law and Order program at the District level. The Law and Order program presents awards for six categories in the eight-county area.
