New Lions Club officers in Newark The Newark Lions Club Board of Directors met on July 8 to select officers for the next year. Henry Hann will be president for the 1999-2000 term. Serving as first vice president will be Rick Nichols, second vice president Steve Murphy, and third vice president Owen Hughes. The secretary and treasurer positions will be served by Diane Miller and Jim Rooney, respectively. Board of director members include: until June 30, 2000, Harold VanDusen and Tom Biddle; until Jun 30, 2001, Mike Petrus and Josh Barrett; until June 30, 2002, Bill Semler and Bob Christmann. Also at the meeting the board authorized acceptance of a $5,500 gift to be used for sight activities and Glenn Stell and Dave Saracino were granted 'member at large' status. Steve Murphy reported that broom sales are progressing. The cost is $8/broom, available from Murphy at 331.8165. The winners of $500 college scholarships are Sarah All, Katie Antonucci and Emily Howard. The awards were made possible through funds raised at the spaghetti dinner. Newark Lions are planning to celebrate the 75th year as a club. It is one of the oldest in the region and in the state. The next meeting will be Weds., August 25 at noon. Copyright © 1999 |
