Arcadia Board discusses gravel pit complaints
By John Zornow

Problems with dust and operating hours at a gravel pit on Parker Road were discussed at this week's Arcadia Town Board meeting.

Councilmen Mike Diamond and Mike DeJohn referred to phone calls from gravel pit neighbor Don Timerson, and conversations with the pit owner, David Shear. DeJohn had talked to Shear in an attempt to come up with a solution to the dust problem. Supervisor Dom Bartucca placed the problem in the hands of Arcadia Code Enforcement Officer Chuck Verkey. Verkey was to follow up on the stipulations that were part of the town's granting this permit, especially dust control and hours of operation. Councilman Gary Grant indicated that if problems continue, the gravel pit owner will have to appear before the town board.

Robert Croll, President of the Marbletown Fire Department, asked the board if any paperwork needs to be signed regarding the Marbletown water line. Bartucca authorized Town Attorney David Saracino to complete all paperwork.

Public hearings were conducted with the board giving special authorization to New York Telephone dba Bell Atlantic to install telephone service equipment on town property on Maple Ridge Road. Mr. and Mrs. Steve Coriddi of 3050 Sandhill were given approval to install a temporary double-wide mobile home on their property for use by Mrs. Coriddi's parents.

New Fairville Firemen. Jamie Craig of Frey Street, Newark, and Jeffrey Grass of Cauwels Rd., Marion, were welcomed by the board as new members of the Fairville Fire Department.

$25,000 for Fairville Water. Bartucca announced that $25,000 was included in the state budget for the Town of Arcadia-Fairville Fire Department to assist the Town in the providing better water quality to the hamlet of Fairville. Bartucca explained that this is in addition to the HUD grant that the Town applied for.
